On this page we will visit the zaouwja of Sidi Ali Ben Hamdouch

The pilgrims come to the sancturies in the mountains of Zerhoun

The women are buying candles at the entrance of the shrine to honour the old saints of the past

The zaouwja of Sidi Ali Ben Hamdouch where many people stay at night

In the evening more people stay to sleep in the tents - but before they start dancing - also old women like it...

Nearby is a cave in the mountain dedicated to Aisha Kandisja - tho old Mothergodess of the Earth

She can appear as a ghost - jinn - to help or nuisance people

Even men can marry her!

The man who serves as her priest wears woman-clothing and magical amulets

He makes with his finger a magical sign upwards to heaven

The girls have brought gifts likes pots of honey for the magic man

Late in the evening the Sjerief - a descandant of the holy man buried in the shrine comes on a white horse to bless the pilgrims

On the Right: message of the moqadem of the Tariqa Hamdouchiyya à FES.

merci.
